CHAIRMAN GWT’S VISIT TO GWS

General Sir David Richards KCB CBE DSO ADC Gen, Col Comdt Bde of Gurkhas and Chairman GWT accompanied by Lady Richards visited GWS over the period 24 – 27 Feb 09. On arrival at HQ GWS, the Fd Dir Lt Col A P M Griffi th RGR
updated them on the GWS activities followed by a tour of HQ GWS offi ces where they met all staff including RWSP and KAAA BGN. They then visited AWC Kaski to see the Residential Home project currently under construction.

On 25 Feb, General saheb and Lady Richards departed Pokhara for a short trek to Michhurlung village of Tanahun district. They visited a RWSP drinking water project in the village and met several ex-Servicemen. They also visited a local Primary School where Lady Richards distributed some educational material to the students.

On the move - rafting on the Seti River

Next day, on return from Michhurlung, they set off for a one dayrafting in Seti River with HQ GWS key staffs. The rafting startedfrom Damauli and ended at Gaighat, Chitwan.On 27 Feb, the VIPs paid a short visit to AWC Chitwan on the way to Tiger Tops. Having spent one day holiday at Tiger Tops in Meghauli, the General and Lady returned to Kathmandu on 1 Mar 09. It was a tremendous pleasure for all GWS staff to have had the opportunity to host Chairman GWT saheb and memsahib. We believe that the visitors thoroughly enjoyed their short visit.
