Welfare Pensioner (WP) Rifleman Abir Thapa aged 84 years lives with his youngest son’s family in a remote village called Maulabang of Gam VDC in Rolpa. On 27 Nov 08 at around 6 p.m. whilst the adult members were inside the hut the grandchildren were playing with fire outside the house. Suddenly the bundle of thatching straws that were against the wall of the house caught fire and the strong wind spread the flame to the thatched roof of the house. The fire quickly spread to rest of the house but fortunately no one was hurt and they managed to salvage some of their belongings but were unable to save the house.
